HOW TO REPLACE FASTENING HOOK&LOOP ON UMBRELLA?

FIX IN 4 EASY STEPS

Holding system of Umbrellas commonly breaks when the Hook and Loop fastening tape comes loose.

What can we do with this problem? Replace the Hook & Loop!!

You can fix it with only basic sewing skills!
Follow the 4 easy steps below to replace hook and loop on your umbrella.

Tools needed:

  1. Umbrella
  2. Sewing Kit
  3. Clips
  4. Ruler
  5. Seam Ripper
  6. Hook&Loop

Step 1:
Remove the unwanted
Hook and Loop pieces

Using the seam ripper to remove stitches from the fabric side and untie off the unwanted Hook and Loop fastener piece.

⚠You can also use blade or scissors instead of a seam ripper to do the same. Just be careful the sharp knife!

Step 2:
Measure and Cut Hook and Loop
Fastening Tape to the desired Length

Using a ruler to measure the length of the tear-off Hook and Loop and cut down a new piece to fit the same size.

⚠️Remember, only with both “Hook Side” and “Loop Side” can be stick together.

Step 3:
Placing the Hook and Loop fastening

piece firmly in position

Placing the cut new piece of Hook and Loop in position

and fixing with pins or clips before sewing.

Step 4:
Sew on Hook and Loop

Another option is to sew by hand, to begin sewing,

you can measure the boundary length of Hook or Loop

piece and work with a thread about 4 times length

of its boundary, then sewing along the edges of Hook or Loop from end to end.

Diagonal box stitch helps to fix Hook or Loop more secure.

⚠️ Both “Hook Side” and “Loop Side” can be removed by this way.
